לפני כשעה התקבל במוקדי הבטחון דיווח על תאונת דרכים קשה ברחוב שדרות יצחק רבין באשקלון בה מעורבים רכב פרטי וקלנועית.
כוחות משטרה שהגיעו למקום החלו בבירור נסיבות התאונה מהן עולה כי רכב פרטי סטה מנתיב נסיעתו, מסיבה שאיננה ידועה בשלב זה, פגע בעמוד חשמל ובקלנועית שנסעה על המדרכה. כתוצאה מהתאונה נפגע נהג הקלנועית באורח קשה ונהג הרכב הפרטי באורח בינוני.
